Real Networks G2

MagnaCom maintains hosting server solutions from Real Networks on each Gold and Platinum webserver. Unlike other webhosting providers who claim to offer G2 technology, we use the RTSP protocol, not the standard HTTP protocol for delivery of real audio/video. Real Networks' G2 standard has become an extremely popular standard for streaming audio/video content. Virtual Server customers must first obtain a license (which is free for non-commercial use) and there is then a £200 fee (for set-up and administration) and we will upload the files compatible with the server.

The Hosting Server Solution...

Our hosting server from Real Networks allows for 100 concurrent streams per webserver over the RTSP protocol, a protocol developed by Real Networks to be optimized for delivery of real audio/video content. Unlike the HTTP protocol, your content will stream on your virtual server. Our G2 server is backwards compatible with Real Audio 4.0 and later.

Stream MP3s!

With MagnaCom you can also stream MPEG Layer-3 files from your server to client, as long as the client has software supporting the streaming delivery of MP3 files.

MIDIs!

MIDI files are computer generated sound files which are relatively small in size. With the random sound script we provide, you can create a random sound program from your website using MIDI files. This program will play a random sound when someone visits your website. MIDI files are quite easy to produce and implement, but are also less popular.
