Active
Server Pages (ASP)
Active Server Pages are Microsoft's
very popular alternative to CGI scripting languages,
such as Perl or PHP3 for the Windows NT platform. ASP
is available on all Windows NT virtual server accounts.
ASP can be written in a variety of languages, including
VBScript, JScript, and PerlScript, so if you've ever
programmed in Visual Basic, Java, or Perl, you already
know how to program Active Server Pages. On our Platinum
package we offer Chilisoft ASP! to clients.
Pre-Processing
Language for Windows NT
An ASP is somewhat similar to a
server-side include or a common gateway interface (CGI)
application in that all involve programs that run on
the server, usually tailoring a page for the user. Typically,
the script in the web page at the server uses input
received as the result of the user's request for the
page to access data from a database and then builds
or customizes the page on the fly before sending it
to the requestor. Thus, ASP is very fast, as it is built
into Microsoft's Internet Information Server (IIS).
ASP Studio
Software Artisans' ASPstudio enhances
the ASP development environment by making it even easier
to create scalable, robust web applications that take
advantage of the Windows NT Server platform. Because
all ASP Studio components are run server-side, they
are compatible with every browser. Developers can use
SA-FileUp to receive and process user input, while staying
within the context of their Active Server application.
Verify and Validate common forms of user input from
within your web application. Fully scriptable via Active
Server Pages. SA File can verify items such as credit
card numbers and e-mail addresses.
